This idea arose in March 2001 after the nuns attended two events: (1) The Outstanding Women’s Awards in Thailand organized by the Gender and Development Research Institute and (2) an invited speech offered by Venerable Bhikkhuni Dr. Lee at the United Nations Auditorium in honor of International Women’s Day on 8 March 2001.

Mr. Chinthaka Dikkumbura have over 29 years of professional experience in the International Garments Sector; he has held positions of Executive Director, Head of Quality Assurance as well as General Manager in several international garments buying offices and has worked in countries such as Bangladesh, Ethiopia and Sri Lanka. Over the years, he has gained technical expertise and knowledge in garments manufacturing and quality control processes. He also conducted capacity building workshops / trainings for staff in the garments field and has introduced unique techniques and user-friendly processes to various factory departments under his supervision to ensure smooth and efficient quality production processes.
Wijaya Wagaarachchi – Director (Creative)
After higher studies in Rajapaksa National School, Weeraketiya, Hambantota, Wijaya entered for follow up the professional Diploma in “Ingreen” Institute of printing & Graphics, Colombo-01, Sri Lanka. He Completed the Diploma in Graphic Designing, with a “Gold Medal” 2010. Currently he is involving many Buddhist activities as a Web, Graphic and Layout Designer. According to his carrier, Interdisciplinary Diploma in Design, focusing on design as a holistic process and mastering different approaches towards the successful completion of the project/product.Knowledge to create computer aided designs for various substrate, printing technologies and customer requirements. Concepts of graphic design, Digital imaging and scanning, Page layout techniques, Imposition format for printing processes, Color management, Quality control in pre – press and printing, Printing technologies and printing process. Practical assignment: Annual Report, Calendar, Newspaper, Product pack. Furthermore, he is giving highly service to Mettavalokana Buddhist Publication Center to propagate Buddhism worldwide. That is the honorary service. According to his 15 years experience in media sector, as the Creative Director, he is designing layout of our Bhikkhunis International Buddhist Magazine and Mettavalokanaya International Buddhist Magazine in every month.
Rumal Fernando – Director (IT & Website)
Starting work in Lalith Athulathmudali Vocational training center Ratmalana as a Lab Instructor and Assistant Instructor. Also, he has 10 year working experience in Infobit Lanka Computer School – Mathugama. He is a self-starter who required little supervision which lead him to the post of Head of Computer Laboratory, Senior Instructor and subsequently, as the Head of Academic Staff and Branch Manager. His quick learning ability and the capability of working independently made him a good IT professional. He performed as an Instructor in Microsoft Office, Graphic Designing and Web Designing. He has a thorough knowledge in Internet, E-mail and all major softwares. Rumal was a good colleague to his co-workers. He is a motivated employee and an excellent leader who bears a good moral character. We found him responsible, enthusiastic and hardworking during his working tenure. He can prove to be an asset for any effort. He has good knowledge with social medias and online third part services. currently he is managing over 30 Facebook business Fan pages and websites. Aruna Nalawaththa – Director (Photography & Video)
As the Director (Photography & Video), Aruna Nalawaththa according to his talent he engages to do massive service to propagate Buddhism worldwide through the Mettavalokanaya International Buddhist Magazine and Bhikkhunis International Buddhist Magazine. Aruna Nalawaththa has 15 years working experience in National Airlines in Sri Lanka, both Srilankan Airlines and Mihin Lanka Airlines. He has excellent media angle and eye on Photography & Video of media. Both “Mettavalokanaya” International Monthly Buddhist Magazine & Website / “Bhikkhunis” – The World’s First International Monthly Buddhist Magazine & Website of Mettavalokana Buddhist Publications Centre in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Aruna Nalawaththa is doing excellent service to distribute worldwide since its establishment in 2015, the Buddhist Magazines have been successfully distributed to 40 countries up to date including all districts across Sri Lanka. We also desire to publish more publications as a Buddhist Centre in the near future.
